FAQ

Questions schools ask before they write to us.

If yours is missing, the form is short and we answer it ourselves.

Working together

Who do you usually work with?

Districts and charter networks, edtech companies serving K-12, education nonprofits, and state-program operators. We work best with small to mid-sized organisations, where one conversation can reach the person who decides.

Do you work with US clients from Portugal?

Yes. Encontra was built for Alabama from Porto, we keep deliberate overlap with US working hours, and US engagements can be contracted through our US entity where that is simpler for you.

What does an engagement cost?

It depends on scope, so we quote a fixed fee in writing before starting. We price for education budgets, and you will have a number before you commit to anything.

Data & compliance

How do you handle student data?

Before the first commit we write down what data the system touches, where it lives, and who can reach it, mapped against FERPA, COPPA, and your state's student-privacy law. Where a feature can work without student PII, we build it that way.

Is what you build accessible?

WCAG 2.2 AA is the standard on everything we ship, tested with a keyboard and a screen reader alongside the automated checks.

Can you work around our school calendar?

It is the first thing we ask about. Launches sit clear of the two weeks before school starts and of your testing windows, and rollout dates are set against your calendar.

The company

Who will we actually be working with?

You work with senior people from start to finish. Whoever scopes your work builds it and answers your emails. We keep the team deliberately lean and grow it as the work calls for it.

Why is an education company in Portugal?

Education budgets and Porto's cost structure fit together, so the money that buys a thin pilot elsewhere buys a finished thing from us, and the engineering talent here is excellent. It is also a market in its own right, and we open to private K-12 in Portugal in early 2027.
